Cotton market will show signs of pressure, for at least a short timeframe. Looks like, there is going to be lot of cotton world over. Addressing the 95th Annual General Meeting of Mumbai-based Cotton Association of India, Nayan Mirani stated recently, “cotton prices are likely to witness a depressing trend.”

The cotton sector in India has clocked an envious growth and it has carved a niche for itself in the international market. India has the largest acreage under cotton, which is about 1/3rd of the world’s total cotton acreage.

Nayan C Mirani of Khimji Visram & Sons, has been elected the President of Cotton Association of India (CAI) for the year 2016-17 at the meeting of the Board of Directors of CAI.

Indian cotton crop for the next season beginning in October will remain at the same level as the current year. Mumbai-based Cotton Association of India (CAI) released the first estimate for the next year’s cotton crop beginning on October 1.

The Cotton Association of India (CAI) has released its December estimate of the cotton crop for the 2015-16 season, which began on 1st October 2015. The CAI has placed its December estimate of the cotton crop for the 2015-16 season at 357.00 lakh bales of 170 kg each.
