With the objective of increasing its footprint across the southern part of the country, the Synthetic & Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC) has opened its regional office in the premises of the Southern India Mills Association (SIMA), Coimbatore.

The Synthetic & Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC), one of the oldest export promotion councils in India, recently gave away export awards in a function held on January 27, 2018 in Mumbai. Present during the occasion was: Smriti Zubin Irani, Union Minister of Textiles & Information and Broadcasting; Ajay Tamta, Union Minister of State for Textiles; Anant Kumar Singh, Secretary, Textiles; Dr Kavita Gupta, Textile Commissioner; Rughani, Vice Chairman; Anil Rajvanshi, Convenor, Export Award Committee; and Rajen Udeshi of Reliance Industries.

For the man-made fibre industry (MMF) in India, its disgruntlement is turning into unceasing aggression. The reasons are many: China exports 65 per cent of manmade textiles out of its exports of $650 billion while India´s share of manmade textiles is hardly 20 per cent out of its exports of $40 billion.

Woes for the man-made fibre (MMF) industry have been piling up, with the proverbial last straw being the dumping of cheap fabrics in the last one year amounting to $850 million by countries including three major Asian nations ´ China, Taiwan and Korea.
