While the global market size of the TT sector was estimated to be $104,000 million in 2010, this sector is still in nascent stages in India. TT offer several advantages in their functional aspects for improving health and safety, cost effectiveness, and durability and strength of textile material. These performance-enhancement products are applicable in the protective clothing, agriculture, medical, infrastructure development, automotive, aerospace, sports, and packaging sectors.

The technical textile industry in India is seriously getting down to business; first, the membership of the Indian Technical Textile Association (ITTA) has gone up by 48 to over 240, and there are signs of more coming in in the days to come.
