Ratan Tata and his Legacy

The support from Tata group through its trust laid the foundation for my humble success in my career, expresses Dr Seshadri Ramkumar.

The world mourns the demise of a great soul, Ratan Tata ji. Born into wealth, he showed how one should use wealth and power by being humble.

Tata group has touched me personally as I was the recipient of JRD Tata Scholarship for studying abroad. I remember my interview for the scholarship at Tata House in Central Mumbai, during the Summer of 1994 which turned out to be positive for me. The office exhibited professionalism, and I was struck in awe to be sitting in the hallowed place, which put Bharath in global map through the development of industrial base even before independence. It is in this building generations of Tatas including Ratan ji would have conducted their business and philanthropic activities.

Tata trust provide me *Tata Scholarship* which I used to travel to England to do my Ph.D. at the University of Leeds in October 1994.

The support from Tata group through its trust laid the foundation for my humble success in my career, which includes “Lifetime Technical Achievement Award,” in the field of advanced textiles by INDA-Association of Nonwoven Fabrics Industry, USA.

I join millions of people in mourning the demise of a humble soul and as a Tata Scholar (1994), I am grateful. Om Shanthi!
