Odisha greenlights 12 projects worth Rs 84,918 crore

These projects will be strategically distributed across the state, encompassing the districts of Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kendrapada, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Sambalpur, and Sundargarh.

Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister, Odisha, has granted approval for 12 key projects, reflecting a collective investment intent of Rs 84,918.75 crore. The official stated that these projects aim to generate employment opportunities for 42,281 individuals spanning various sectors.

During the High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) meeting chaired by the chief minister, investment proposals covering apparel and textiles, green hydrogen, green ammonia, steel, power, renewable energy, and chemical and petrochemical downstream sectors were given the green light. The official further revealed that these projects will be strategically distributed across the state, encompassing the districts of Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kendrapada, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Sambalpur, and Sundargarh.

In the realm of apparel and textiles, Welspun Living received HLCA’s approval to establish an integrated textile and logistics facility in Choudwar, Cuttack district, with an investment of Rs 3,050 crore. This initiative holds the potential to create employment for 20,210 people, according to the official.

Welspun Corp secured the green signal for an investment of Rs 3,137 crore in a pipe manufacturing and pipe coating plant in Sambalpur district. This project is expected to generate employment for 3,830 individuals in Sambalpur.

The state government recently sanctioned a project by Sintex BAPL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Welspun, for establishing a manufacturing unit dedicated to CPVC, UPVC, PVC fittings, and plastic tanks in Sambalpur district.

In the pursuit of promoting the green hydrogen and green ammonia sector, the state government approved Welspun New Energy Limited’s proposal to establish a 0.70 MMTPA green ammonia manufacturing unit in Kendrapada district. This venture, backed by an investment of Rs 13,860 crore, is anticipated to generate employment for 1,000 individuals.

Sembcorp Green Hydrogen India received the nod to set up a 0.72 MMTPA green ammonia manufacturing unit in Gopalpur, Ganjam district. With an investment of Rs 13,000 crore, this project is expected to create employment for 1,250 individuals.
