Charlotte, North Carolina: The Hosiery Associations (THA) Board of Directors voted to dissolve the 108 year-old organisation effective December 31, 2013.

The textile industry in India is one of the few industries which has the potential to emerge as a true global player. A well-devised action plan coupled with effective delivery mechanism can see India as emerging as a winner in the quota free market.

Indian companies can invest in the textile sector in the United Kingdom which on a path of recovery after being revived by the government, Vince Cable, UK´s Secretary of State (Cabinet Minister) for Business, Innovation and Skills, said

Indian textile industry is the second largest in the world, next to China. But the gap between the No 1 and No 2 is huge. If we go back to the 50s, India used to have a larger market share in the textile & clothing – say about 13 per cent.

Exports of Indian MMF textiles were not encouraging during 2012-13. The exports of man-made fibre textile which grew consistently during last 10 years have declined by 9 per cent during 2012-13 compared to the previous year and amounted only US $5.37 billion.
