Rahul Mehta, President, The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India, has been elected as the New President of the International Apparel Federation (IAF) for 2014-2016 at the General Assembly of the IAF held on 29 September 2014 in Medellin, Colombia, during the 30th World Fashion Convention.

On 9 October 2014, Gerold Fleissner, the pioneer of textile, man-made fibre and nonwovens industry, turned 90. In 1984, Fleissner took over the general management of the company with more than 800 employees, after his brother had died.

Atlas Copco has recently appointed Zhen Chen as General Manager of Atlas Copco Product Company, Pune (India). In his new mission, Zhen will be responsible for the company´s operations at Pune, including both manufacturing facilities – Dapodi and Chakan.

After the economic slowdown of 2008-09 in which the global textile industry lost much of its steam, there came a whiff of fresh air in the industry last year. But again the uncertainty persisted for some time till the new Government at the Centre gave some hopes a few months back.
