Americans are being encouraged to go for recycling of textiles. After celebrating “America Recycles Day”, and awaiting the upcoming Thanksgiving and holiday season, the Re-Clothe NY Coalition, a group of governments, recyclers and non-profits across the state, has requested local residents to donate and recycle unwanted clothing and other household textiles by bringing them to the closest collection location.

Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC) has signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM). The purpose is to advance skill sector in the state by offering 24 courses with the target to uplift 8,000 unemployed youth in the next three years in all UP centres i.e Noida, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Agra, Unnao, Lucknow, Pratapgarh, Barabanki, Barailly, Shahjahanpur, Varanasi, Ajamgarh and Kannauj.

TumKalip Aparat, a Turkish manufacturer of spare parts for new generation of European make weaving machines since the last 30 years, will be showing its range of quality spare parts at India-ITME. TumKalip will also be promoting its high-tech coating technology for used Rapier Heads, like TiO2 and TC also called tungsten carbide coatings.

Amba Projex Ltd is a UK-based company, located near Manchester. It has manufacturing capability on sites throughout the UK and Europe. The company designs and supplies coating, flocking and laminating machines for technical textiles and composites.

Vietnam’s garment and textile export in the first nine months this year posted the lowest growth rate for the last ten years, reported Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas). The down growth rate has been caused by import reduction from some major markets of Vietnam where have met with economic difficulties and the Britain’s exit from the EU.

Rashmi Verma is Secretary – Textiles, Ministry of Textiles under the Government of India. Verma, a 1982 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre, took over the charge as the new Secretary, Ministry of Textiles from January 1, 2016. Earlier, she was the Special Secretary in the Department of Revenue in Ministry of Finance. Verma has a very rich, vast and varied experience at various key positions at the Centre and State level.

Rajasthan has emerged as a pre-eminent hub for the domestic textile industry with a presence across the entire value addition chain from spinning to garments. About 30 MoUs worth Rs 8,500 crore were signed for the textile sector, of which 12 projects have started production while 12 projects are under construction and three projects are under various stages of clearance.

The ITMF International Committee on Cotton Testing Methods (ICCTM) announced a new initiative to standardise the testing of stickiness in cotton samples. The stickiness testing initiative will be led by Jean-Paul Gourlot and his colleagues at Centre de coopération internationale en recherche agronomique pour le développement (CIRAD), in collaboration with Axel Drieling at Faserinstitut Bremen e.V. (FIBRE) and Karsten Fröse at the Bremen Baumwollbörse.
