KCT Colleges 2-day certificate course

A two-day certificate course on advances in testing of textiles and apparels was organised by Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore, jointly with the Department of Fashion Technology. This course exclusively benefited the students from textile institutions. The participants were taught on various fundamental and advanced aspects of manufacturing and testing of textiles in the facilities at KCT-TIFAC CORE. A Ramani, Honarary Secretary, Indian Cotton Federation (ICF), and cotton analyst Lakshmi Mills Co Ltd, was the chief guest and resource person. He delivered a lecture on testing of cotton fibres. He also released the course CD and the first copy was received by Aishwariya, Faculty, Footwear Design, and Development Institute  (FDDI) Chennai. Dr J Srinivasan, Head, Fashion Technology, gave a welcome address and presided over the function. Dr G Ramakrishnan, Coordinator, KCT-TIFAC CORE, highlighted about KCT-TIFAC CORE and about the certificate course to all participants and also read the message given by Dr R S Kumar, Principal, KCT.

About 40 students and 3 faculty members from Fashion Design and Development Institute participated in the two-day certificate course. R Pasupathi, Senior Scientific Officer, Testing Division of the South India Textile Research Association (SITRA) delivered a paper on testing of yarns. Practical Demonstration of fibre and yarn testing instruments was provided by Statex Engineering, Coimbatore. Participants were also demonstrated on facilities established at KCT-TIFAC CORE, Department of Textile & Fashion Technology by the organisers. Dr J Srinivasan, Dr G Ramakrishnan, G Rajkumar and K Gopinath of KCT-TIFAC CORE, Fashion Technology, KCT and R Senthil Kumar and M Saravanan of Textile Technology delivered lectures on testing of yarn and fabrics. Certificates were distributed to all participants and resource persons by Dr J Srinivasan, Head, Fashion Technology, during the valedictory function. K Gopinath, SSO, KCT-TIFAC CORE, delivered vote of thanks.
