Next-gen denim innovations take centre stage at ITM 2026

The ITM 2026 International Textile Machinery Exhibition, scheduled from June 9 to 13, 2026, at the Tüyap Fair and Congress Center in Istanbul, is set to emerge as a key global platform shaping the future of denim production. Bringing together advanced technologies and sustainable solutions, the exhibition will spotlight innovations ranging from smart manufacturing systems and digital washing to laser effects and eco-friendly raw materials.

Türkiye’s strong position in the global denim value chain underpins ITM 2026’s growing relevance. With advanced manufacturing capabilities, a robust logistics network and a reputation for high-quality, flexible and fast production, Türkiye remains one of the most preferred sourcing destinations for international denim fabric manufacturers. Its proximity to Europe further strengthens its role as a strategic supplier to major global brands.

According to the World Denim Fabric Sector Foreign Trade Report published by the Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters’ Association (ITHIB), Türkiye accounted for 25.4 percent of the EU’s denim fabric imports in 2024, ranking among the EU’s most important suppliers. The country recorded denim fabric exports worth $291 million, placing it fourth globally. Türkiye also holds a strong position in denim apparel, exporting $3.5 billion worth of products in 2024, ranking fourth worldwide and emerging as the EU’s second-largest supplier after Bangladesh.

Sustainability continues to be a defining strength of Turkish denim. Manufacturers are increasingly adopting environmentally responsible production methods, developing collections made from 100 percent organic and recyclable fabrics in collaboration with international certification bodies. This focus on sustainable innovation has made Turkish denim a preferred choice for global brands.

One of the highlights of ITM 2026 will be the dedicated “Denim Technologies” section, showcasing solutions across the entire denim production process. From energy- and water-saving machinery to digital, automated and low-chemical dyeing and finishing technologies, the exhibition will present forward-looking innovations that align efficiency with environmental responsibility, reinforcing Istanbul’s position as a technology hub for global denim trends.
