Gartex Texprocess 2023: Unleashing textile innovation
The exhibition was held in Mumbai from May 11-13, and several companies presented their latest advancements during the event.
Gartex Texprocess India has established itself as a vital platform that facilitates the connection between innovation and its practical implementation. It accomplishes this by offering a platform for the display of innovative products and creating opportunities for engagement with over 142 companies specializing in garment and textile machinery. Recently, the exhibition was held in Mumbai from May 11-13, and several companies presented their latest advancements during the event.
Frédéric BOUGEARD, President & CEO, Messe Frankfurt France, at the Gartex Texprocess explained what the strength of the Indian market is, and said, “Over the years, the perception of Made in India products has predominantly been associated with affordability and accessibility. However, both India and China, as developing nations, have made significant progress and it is essential to revise this perception. In India, numerous companies have now embraced sustainable practices, while excelling in the fields of embroidery and lace production. Indian manufacturers, particularly the smaller ones, possess exceptional expertise in terms of quality and design, making them globally renowned for their embroidery and lace manufacturing capabilities.”
East Africa Textile and Apparel Centre Association is for the people of East Africa to have a means of growing their income, and the opportunity to benefit and prosper from the projected dividends of inclusive growth.
Skander Negasi, Founder & CEO Trade and Fairs Group; President of East Africa Textile and Apparel Centre (Association), at Gartex, informed how the Indian market can expand its market in African countries by saying, “Indian companies should explore the African market due to the presence of free trade within the continent. By doing so, they can take advantage of the numerous benefits it offers. One particular area that holds great potential for Indian manufacturers is the thriving knitting sector, along with other segments, in Africa. Africa possesses abundant cotton; however, we currently do not utilise it to produce finished cotton or fabric. Instead, we export this cotton to China, only to receive it back as a finished product. Hence, if India can seize the opportunity to engage in activities such as cotton cleaning, cotton production, or manufacturing and export these products to Africa, it would be a mutually beneficial business venture for both nations. It seems that Indian manufacturers have been relatively inflexible in their trading approach thus far, often mirroring the practices established during British rule. Similar to China, the Indian market should actively explore additional markets and secure a substantial share of the global trade.”
Since the Indian market has shown its manufacturing capabilities globally, Raj Manek, Executive Director and Board Member, Messe Frankfurt Asia Holdings, shared how Gartex helps the industry to realise its potential, “Although we initially launched this show in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic caused delays in our on-ground activities. However, with the Gartex platform, we have successfully established a networking platform for the textile industry. This platform allows us to discuss and showcase new innovations in India, including sustainable products. Therefore, this exhibition plays a crucial role in promoting these companies and their offerings.”

Aamir Akhtar, Group President & CEO Textiles, Jindal Worldwide, “Displayed here are a selection of intriguing concepts that we are introducing. Firstly, we present the innovative ‘Excellence’ line, a denim collection specifically crafted for Indian brands. Additionally, we have the ‘Eye’ line, which is inspired by in-depth research conducted on Indian consumers. Lastly, we showcase the ‘Salad bar’ line, featuring a variety of natural fibres such as banana, hemp, and Himalayan grass. These three novel concepts are the focal point of our exhibition.”
Ashish Bhatnagar, SENIOR Vice President – Marketing, LNJ Denim, shared about his latest collection by saying, “At Gartex this year, we are introducing our Autumn/Winter 2024 collection. The collection encompasses a wide range of sustainable and performance products. These fabrics are designed to provide exceptional comfort to the wearer, incorporating features such as 360-degree stretch and a cotton/nylon blend.” LNJ Denim is a denim-manufacturing facility established in 2007 under RSWM (the flagship company of LNJ Bhilwara Group), has a manufacturing capacity of 25 million metres annually. LNJ Denim has earned an excellent reputation amongst international and domestic brands as an innovator and a quality supplier of denim fabric.
Jaysynth Dyestuff manufactures and deals in dyes, dyes intermediates, organic chemicals, textile auxiliaries, pigments, resins, plasticizers and emulsions. Puneet Srivastava, Vice President, Jaysynth, explained their innovations and said, “We are showcasing two machines at Gartex. The first machine is specifically designed for sublimation printing, featuring 15 Epson heads. Its notable feature is the use of high-density ink, which serves the purpose of reducing the high paper cost associated with sublimation printing (around 70% of the total cost). By lowering the GSM (Grams per Square Metre), it becomes possible to save costs effectively. The second machine focuses on digital pigment printing, providing a sustainable solution. It enables pigmenting to be done digitally without the need for water, making it a waterless printing method that contributes to sustainability efforts.”
Abhijit Joshi, Deputy General Manager – Sales & Marketing Raymond UCO Denim, highlighted the recent offerings of the company.He explained,“This time we are promoting our colour range because we think that there is too much of Indigo and now its time to change. So here we are displaying various colours and also parallel indigos as we cannot totally ignore it. Talking about the recent offerings, there is a lot of blends involved. Talking about our sustainable practices, we are zero discharge factory and we have around 75,000 trees in our factory. So we are one of the most green factories in this part of the world. And we are dealing with major brands offering sustainable products. Be it organic cotton, recycled cotton, less water consumption products, so we are offering A-Z options as far as sustainability is concerned.” Raymond’s passion for denim started in 1996 with state-of-the-art denim fabric manufacturing facility, in collaboration with Italian denim major. In 2006, Raymond entered into a joint venture with Belgian denim major UCO NV with a vision to mark worldwide presence.
Shreya Sharma, Sales, DCC Group, stated, “At Gartex, our primary focus is on showcasing our Epson sublimation printing machine. In addition, we are also displaying our screen inks. One notable feature of our machine is that it is the only one in Asia to hold the prestigious 9001 certificate. We proudly export our machines to 43 countries worldwide, with significant demand coming from the United States and South America. Our unique selling proposition lies in our partnership with Epson for sublimation printing machines. We offer comprehensive services, including sales, servicing, and provision of machine consumables. When it comes to screen manufacturing, we hold the title of the largest manufacturer in Asia. These machines are manufactured right here in India, aligning with the ‘Make in India’ movement, and we export them globally.” DCC Group is a pioneer in the industry, they take the responsibility of introducing printing solutions that can make a difference.
Epson highlighted dye sublimation solutions for specific polyester wear, DTG for cotton wear which is a direct to print on garments. Also, DTF, which is a direct to fabric solution. “So, we are offering different kind of solution for different kind of fabrics,” added SM Ram Prasad, General Manager Sales & Marketing, Epson.
Tukatech, known for offering innovative solutions for the apparel industry, showcased pattern making, grading, marker efficiencies and 3D virtual sampling prototyping at Gartex. Talking about the solutions, Sameer Pauriyal, Director- International, Tukatech explained, “Our focus is to get more out of less people, and our solutions help to automate a lot of processes.”
Swaminathan, Marketing Manager, R.K Exports, said “Here, at Gartex, we are promoting our processing unit and also our fabric business at this part of the country.” The company is a one stop solution for the industry as it has various processes in-house, like the weaving facility, cut-to-pack facility and processing plant.
Ginni International exhibited sustainable denims at the exhibition. J P Choudhary, DGM – Marketing, Ginni International, added, “Our primary focus in development lies in water conservation and environmental preservation. Presently, customers show a preference for economically viable products. To meet this demand, we have introduced denim made from cotton polyblend and cotton viscose blend.”
Orange is a digital solutions provider with digital and auxiliary machinery for various types of industries At Gartex, Orane unveieled sublimation printers and digital textile printers. Priyanka Baraiya, Deputy General Manager- Sales, Orange, commented, “Our clear objective at this exhibition is to connect with customers who are seeking to venture into the digital printing market.”
Dr Sanjay Katode, Assistant Manager – Business Development, Dystar, “We have developed a sustainable washing process that eliminates the use of PP, stones, hypochlorite, and bleach. Our goal is to achieve various denim effects using environmentally friendly chemicals.” DyStar Group is a dyestuff & chemical manufacturer and solution provider, offering customers across the globe a broad portfolio of colorants, specialty chemicals, and services.
Suryalakshmi Cotton Mills showcased its denim collection. Vasu Tipre, Genral Manager, Suryalakshmi Cotton Mills, introduced the range by saying, “We are offering retro shades, stretch, bobbies, and functional finishes at Gartex. This season, we are also unveiling fabric blends like spun poly, tencel, modal, etc.” The company presented its products in different shades like black, grey, indigo, dark indigo, etc.
SS Overseas showcased its first product at the expo and received good response from the audience as the showcased Vilike Machine. “This machine is a European-designed model that undergoes assembly in China. It is capable of producing fabrics for hosiery wear, T-shirts, woollen fabric, and more. The equipment used in this machine is sourced from Germany. Considering the market demand, our aim is to sell a minimum of 500 machines within a two-year timeframe,” commented, Pawan Sharma, SS Overseas.
Superlab specialises in manufacturing textile testing machines, including equipment for fabric inspection, color matching cabinets, wrap reels, and more. “At Gartex, we are showcasing our fabric testing machine, which is designed to identify weaving defects in various types of fabrics, including woven, knitted, and others. Additionally, this machine allows us to assess any printing and dyeing defects present in the fabric.” added Sanjay Chandra, CEO, Superlab.
In addition to offering a diverse range of cutting-edge textile and garment products, the show also featured a series of seminars and workshops, enhancing the overall show experience for all participants and buyers.
