Fantail raises Rs 130.75 mn seed funding for textile manufacturing startup
Founded in 2023 by entrepreneur Ramya Iyer, Fantail aims to become the first man-made fibre (MMF) brand from Surat.
Fantail, a Surat-based B2B man-made textile company that designs and manufactures products for enterprise fashion retail, has raised $1.6 million in a seed funding round led by Riverwalk Holdings, Incubate Fund Asia, and All in Capital, according to an official statement.
Founded in 2023 by entrepreneur Ramya Iyer, Fantail aims to become the first man-made fibre (MMF) brand from Surat, which is recognised as the world’s second-largest ecosystem for man-made fibres and textiles.
The company plans to utilise the fresh capital for strategic investments in several areas. These include upgrading processes and machinery for its partner weavers, mills, and processors in Surat; developing backend technologies to improve operational efficiency; and strengthening its talent pool, especially in design, quality, and technical functions.
Riverwalk Holdings indicated that Fantail was stepping in to address the absence of a quality-driven MMF brand in Surat by standardising the fragmented supply chain and creating proprietary designs with a customer-centric approach. The investor expressed confidence in supporting the company’s vision to build a brand that represents quality, trust, and forward-thinking design.
Incubate Fund Asia highlighted that Fantail is addressing the challenges of a vast yet fragmented finished textiles value chain by serving retailers, exporters, and manufacturers. The fund noted that Fantail’s integrated supply chain solutions enable faster and more reliable supply, supporting smoother operations across the industry.
Fantail focuses on designing and manufacturing fabrics for enterprise fashion retailers across value, premium, and luxury segments. The company aims to bridge the gap between the evolving needs of organised fashion retail—an industry witnessing significant growth in India and other emerging markets—and traditional textile SMEs.
