Elsevier Ltd, UK, has published a new book, ‘Developments in Yarn Spinning Technologies’, edited by Dr Arindam Basu, which explores the recent advancements in yarn spinning technologies, focusing on improving production and embracing sustainability. “In most of the textile final products, yarn is raw material. The yarn spinning technology is one of the most developed technologies in textile sector. Lately a number of books are being published in technical textiles but a book on the latest developments in spinning was not available. This book will be very useful for practicing technologists, researchers and students as it covers all spinning areas including developments in preparatory areas such as blow room, cards, draw frame, combers, speed frames etc. Also spinning processes of various fibres such as Worsted, woollen and bast fibres have been covered,” said Dr Arindam Basu, Director General of the Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA).

This book focuses on recent developments in spinning uncovering the evolving techniques and technologies that are reshaping the yarn production industry. It addresses key technological challenges providing practical insights into overcoming obstacles and staying ahead in the rapidly evolving field. It delves into distinct properties of yarns, examining how technological innovations impact and enhance their characteristics for improved performance. Authors from NCSU, University of Leeds, IIT Delhi, NITRA, UPTTI, Central Sheep & Wool Research Institute, and Calcutta University have contributed in this volume. The book is available from Elsevier and on Amazon.co.uk.
