Textiles are known to mankind since or earlier than 7,000 BC. The knowhow of textiles is older than metal working or pottery making. There are evidences that have been unearthed which has proved that people in Harrapan civilization knew weaving and spinning. Such is the age of textiles in India.

It is with great sadness that the Textile Institute announces the death of its World President Dr Peter Dinsdale CText FTI. Peter passed away at the age of 69 on Sunday 10 August 2014

The Cotton Association of India (CAI) has placed the cotton crop for the season 2013-14 beginning on 1st October 2013 at 400.50 lakh bales of 170 kgs. each.
