Italy’s Itema exhibits weaving innovations at SITEX expo in Surat

SITEX also witnessed the official launch of the partnership between Itema and the leading Italian circular knitting machines manufacturer Cesare Colosio for distribution of the company’s innovative machines in India.

Itema – the global leading provider of advanced weaving solutions, including weaving machines, OEM spare parts and integrated services – exhibited at Surat International Textile Expo (SITEX) 2022 – held from January 8-10 at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre (SIECC).

Surat, which produces daily 25 million meters of fabrics, is recognised as the hub for the production of synthetic textiles. Surat Region is an important market for Itema which has grown multifold in recent years. Itema is today the leading supplier of rapier weaving technology in the Region, thanks to the excellent versatility and the superior textile mastery of its rapier machines which guarantee to Surat weavers to produce at best their fancy, sophisticated and fashionable Saree and women dress fabrics. The impressive number of Itema rapier R9500 and R9000 family models installed in Surat mills testifies how the Itema weaving technology is the preferred by weavers to produce fabrics made with different yarns and weaving patterns.

Itema is present in India with a fully-operational branch since 2002, counting more than 50 employees, with sales and after-sales teams, technical support and advanced repair centers to ensure the highest possible standard of weaving solutions, with a complete offering and range of services to its valuable customers in the Indian market. 

Itema is a trusted partner of many Indian weaving mills, from large textile conglomerates to smaller textile manufacturers, providing the most advanced and user-friendly weaving technology and real-time assistance, from the initial negotiation stage and throughout the whole machine life cycle.

At SITEX, Itema showcased a rapier R9500-2 weaving machine, in weaving width 3800mm and equipped with a Stäubli LXM 5376 hooks Jacquard shedding machine. The machine on display in Stäubli booth weaved a fabric traditionally produced in the mills of the region and is configured to meet the local weavers production needs.

Moreover, the Itema staff illustrated all the weaving innovations and the latest company updates to visitors. The Itema (and previous brands – Somet, Vamatex and Sulzer) spare parts and after-sales advanced solutions were also in focus with the possibility to discover all the opportunities to give new life to looms, such as customised upgrade kits to optimize machine performance and retrofit latest Itema innovations on existing looms and electric, electronic and mechanic repairs.

SITEX also witnessed the official launch of the partnership between Itema and the leading Italian circular knitting machines manufacturer Cesare Colosio for the marketing and distribution of the company’s highly innovative machines in India. With this partnership, Itema expands its portfolio of textile products, thus creating a significant benefit for all the Indian textile companies that need both the Itema and the Colosio machinery, that share the same attention to innovation and excellence that Itema guarantees to its customers.
