The mills occupy approximately 100 acres of land on the Puducherry-Cuddalore Road.

V Vaithilingam, MP, Puducherry, has requested the Union government to create a textile park within the premises of the inactive Anglo-French Textile mills situated in the union territory.

Bringing up the matter of the shut textile mills in Puducherry using Rule 377, the MP mentioned that a considerable number of people had become unemployed after the mills ceased their operations.

The mills occupy approximately 100 acre of land on the Puducherry-Cuddalore Road.

Considering this, Vaithilingam made an appeal for the involvement of the Centre in establishing a textile park under the Prime Minister’s Manufacturing, Industrial Transformation, and Upgradation Scheme (PM MITRA Scheme).

He remarked that by utilising the existing resources and infrastructure, the proposed textile park aimed to contribute to the progress of Puducherry. The execution of the scheme would also attract investments, as per his statements.

The primary goal of the PM MITRA Scheme is to rejuvenate the textile industry in the region and repurpose the current buildings and skilled workforce.
