Indore: A significant number of industries, more than 100 in total, have acquired land in the upcoming textile cluster located in Nimbola village, Burhanpur. The cluster’s establishment is being facilitated by a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), which has allocated land to 108 industries. The SPV expects an investment of Rs 200-250 crore in the textile cluster. Abhilash Meravi, the general manager of the DIC in Burhanpur, has confirmed the land allocation and mentioned that infrastructure development, such as road construction, drainage systems, and other civil work, is currently in progress.
Meravi further stated that industries are likely to commence construction work soon to establish their facilities within the cluster. The development of the Nimbola textile cluster will occur in four phases, with the state government contributing 10 per cent of the total infrastructure expenditure or a maximum of Rs 10 crore, while the remaining costs will be borne by the industries. Among the proposed clusters in Burhanpur, the Nimbola textile cluster is one of the first, specifically intended for local power looms and textile units.
Burhanpur is renowned for its looms, with nearly 40,000 power loom units operating in homes, small rooms, and unorganized workshops throughout the city. Alongside the Nimbola cluster, two other textile clusters were planned for Burhanpur, located in Mohammadpura and Sukhpuri. However, infrastructure development has not yet commenced in Sukhpuri, while Mohammadpura’s development is approximately 60 per cent complete, according to the MSME department.
The Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) department has designated 23 hectares and 63 hectares of land for the development of clusters in Mohammadpura and Sukhpuri, respectively, within Burhanpur.
