The visit comes as India looks to expand its textile exports across 40 countries.

Pabitra Margherita, Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, will visited Moscow from 1 to 3 October for a series of discussions with Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, as well as leading entrepreneurs from the textile and apparel sector.

The visit comes as India looks to expand its textile exports across 40 countries, following the United States’ recent move to impose 50 per cent tariffs on Indian apparel along with a 25 per cent penalty on crude imports from Russia.

According to the ministry, the visit underscores India’s commitment to deepening trade and cultural ties with Russia while diversifying markets for textile exports. It is expected to boost bilateral trade, promote market diversification, and enhance people-to-people linkages between the two nations.

During the trip, Margherita will inaugurate the Best of India – Indian Apparel and Textile Fair in Moscow. The exhibition will showcase products from over 100 Indian companies, including handlooms, handicrafts, home furnishings, carpets, linens, apparel and garments.

The fair, along with a buyer-seller meet, is expected to attract nearly 1,000 domestic and international buyers. The ministry described it as a strategic platform for Indian exporters to strengthen their presence in Russia and other CIS markets, while fostering collaboration between Indian and Russian businesses.
