The identified 120 acre at Jahir Ammapalayam will provide direct employment to 10,000 people, with an additional 30,000 to 40,000 people benefiting from indirect jobs.

TRB Rajaa, Minister for Industries, inspected the 120 acre of land identified at Jahir Ammapalayam in Salem city for the establishment of a textile park.

Following the inspection, Rajaa stated that various schemes were being implemented by MK Stalin, Chief Minister, to ensure employment, develop industries, and improve the livelihoods of the people. He recalled that during Stalin’s visit to Salem in December 2021, the announcement was made to set up both a mini tidel park and a textile park in the Salem district.

In May 2023, based on the announcement, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the mini tidel park at Anaigoundampatti. The park, built at a cost of Rs 290.50 million, covers 55,000 sq ft of land across three floors. Stalin has officially inaugurated the Tidel park in September this year. For the textile park, the identified 120 acre at Jahir Ammapalayam will provide direct employment to 10,000 people, with an additional 30,000 to 40,000 people benefiting from indirect jobs. The Minister mentioned that work on the textile park would begin soon.

He also inspected the mini tidel park and held discussions with officials regarding the expansion of the Salem Airport.
