Grasim Industries Limited bagged the Dun & Bradstreet Corporate Award 2018 for its stellar performance in the textile sector. The Dun & Bradstreet Corporate Awards recognise outstanding Indian corporates. Instituted in 2006, this year the Dun & Bradstreet Corporate Awards honoured leading companies in India, for being ‘Champions of Change’ in the transformation of the country. The awards were presented by Shiv Pratap Shukla, Honourable Minister of State for Finance, Government of India.

Dilip Gaur Managing Director, Grasim Industries, said, “We in Grasim have made a paradigm shift in our manufacturing idiom and customer centricity. We have morphed Viscose Staple Fibre from a commodity into a highly aspirational brand – LIVA, currently tagged in over 30 million apparel, the choice of fashion conscious customers. Likewise, sustainability has come to be at the core of our manufacturing, from forest to fibre to fashion. The global NGO Canopy’s Hot Button Report which ranks VSF companies on the conservation of endangered forests, ranked Birla Cellulose on top of the pole for its commitment to sustainable forestry management. We are upgrading our plants to best-in-class European standards. In many ways Grasim has been truly on a transformative journey under the Chairmanship of KM Birla. The Dun & Bradstreet Award is a recognition of this transformation and Grasim’s resolute role in positioning India globally.”

In his acceptance address, Sushil Agarwal, Whole-time Director and CFO, Grasim Industries Limited said, “Grasim is built on the solid foundation of corporate governance, exemplary operations and unrelenting value creation for stakeholders. Ours is a 70-year story of growth and evolution. We have grown phenomenally in revenues, cash flows, earnings and product portfolio every which way. And all through, change has been a constant. So being awarded the Change Champion and among the Top Textiles Companies being ranked No. 1, is a validation of our leadership and people commitment. We take great pride in this award.”

Manish Sinha, Managing Director, Dun & Bradstreet – India said, “We have branded this year’s event and publication as Champions of Change; we have done customized economic research and developed insights from our database to describe how four broad segments play a unique role as champions of change in shaping the country in the coming years. The winners of Dun & Bradstreet Corporate Awards 2018 are truly the Champions of Change, playing these roles in their segments and driving these changes successfully.”
