Textile industry to reach $2.1 trillion by 2025: ITAMMA President
The Indian Textile Accessories and Machinery Manufacturers Association (ITAMMA), which participated at the recently-concluded Texfair 2017 in Coimbatore, talked about working towards its vision “to make India the hub of textile accessories and machinery by 2020,†and accordingly under mission plan ITAMMA is taking efforts to innovate and improve the technological capability of its member companies through various schemes and initiatives.
The Indian Textile Accessories and Machinery Manufacturers Association (ITAMMA), which participated at the recently-concluded Texfair 2017 in Coimbatore, talked about working towards its vision “to make India the hub of textile accessories and machinery by 2020,†and accordingly under mission plan ITAMMA is taking efforts to innovate and improve the technological capability of its member companies through various schemes and initiatives. Disclosing this, Kaizar Mahuwala, President, of ITAMMA said that realising the importance of Lean Manufacturing in the Sustainable growth of the Textile Engineering Units, ITAMMA has been instrumental in implementing the Lean Practice in more than 40 member factories and thus has created its own identity and a role model for other Associations to follow. Mauwala said this during his felicitation speech at the inaugural session of ‘TEXFAIR-2017’ exhibition in Coimbatore. ITAMMA also utilised the ‘TEXFAIR-2017’ as a platform for enrolling new members and interacting with its members and MoU partners.
Mahuwala said that the global textile industry is expected to reach $2.1 trillion by 2025 and India’s textile market will grow at the rate of 12 per cent, which will be higher than any other country in the world, making India the 4th largest country in the world of global textile & apparel industry. About 63 ITAMMA members participated in this exhibition as exhibitors.
There was also a Seminar on “Opportunities for Business in the Manufacturing & Trading of Garment Machines & Accessories†at the Jenneys Residency, Coimbatore, in which Kaizar Mahuwala, delivered the welcoming speech.
Mahuwala said that considering today’s era of smart & digital manufacturing followed by responsible manufacturing, being the mantra of sustainable growth in the global challenging market, we have focused our activities on these further supported by 5S, Lean, Product Design Projects, Operational Excellence, etc. We have seen the a tremendous development in technologies and are also experiencing the implementation of all these technologies as well as introduction of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, and computerisation.
To encourage our members in these areas we have also introduced this year a new Award called “Operational Excellence Award.â€
Madhu Kapoor, Chairman, ALT College and Managing Director, Apparel and Leather Technics Ltd, who the Guest of Honour delivered his speech on “Opportunities for Business in the Manufacturing & Trading of Garment Machines & Accessoriesâ€. He informed about the various opportunities to ITAMMA members for exploring the business in the garment industry. He mentioned that ALT College is planning a joint project with ITAMMA and its members for the development of a garment machine and components.
T Rajkumar, Ex-Chairman, SIMA & Managing Director, Sri Mahasakthi Mills Ltd, who the Chief Guest addressed the audience on “Business Opportunities for Textile Engineering Industryâ€. Rajkumar gave a brief insight on the spinning industry, mentioning the initiatives taken by SIMA in its representation to the Government in regard with policies, especially GST. Value addition is the key to success in spinning industry in the present era, he said.
