Danfoss India, an industry leader focused on climate and energy efficient solutions, has been conferred with the ‘Golden Peacock Award’ for Environment Management, acknowledging its commitment towards the environment. The company has been recognised for its LEED Platinum rated constructed manufacturing facility in Chennai, which is the first-of-its-kind in India. Danfoss’s commitment towards sustainable development via its energy-efficient products, green initiatives at the Oragadam campus and finally, its ongoing pan India CSR programmes driving sustainability are some the key contributing factors for the award.

The Golden Peacock Awards Presentation Ceremony was held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre in the presence of Supreme Court Justice Kurien Joseph and several other dignitaries.

Commenting on the occasion, Ravichandran Purushothaman, President, Danfoss India, said, “We are extremely honoured to have received the Golden Peacock recognition that reiterates our vision towards Engineering Tomorrow’s India in a sustainable manner. I would like to acknowledge my team who have always been focused on sustainable development of our environment, within and outside our campus and this award is definitely a source of motivation for us to aspire and achieve greater heights towards creating a better tomorrow.”

Danfoss has always been committed to developing energy efficient solutions to compliment the growing need for sustainable technology in the fields of infrastructure, food supply and climate friendly solutions. Danfoss, given its commitment to COP21 and UN Global Compact, has also globally launched a ‘Climate Strategy 2030’ through which they hope to reduce its own energy intensity and CO2 intensity by 50 per cent before 2030 by driving greener technology investments.

The Danfoss manufacturing facility at Oragadam, Chennai was recently conferred with a LEED Platinum rated certification, because of its green and sustainable setup, which includes a 1 MW solar power plant, a bio-gas plant, zero liquid discharge waste water treatment plant, rain water harvesting pond, energy efficient fixtures, carbon footprint reduction initiatives, extensive green cover at campus, etc.

Danfoss India has always believed in giving back to the society. Through its India CSR Programme, the company is constantly addressing challenges faced in areas of education, livelihood, health and environment and raising awareness on environment and sustainability in the local communities where they operate.

This year, the awards were distributed amidst a gathering of business leaders from across India during IOD’s ‘19th World Congress on Environment Management’.
