Dow Corning, a successful pioneer in promoting the use of silicones for various applications, is upbeat about the Indian market, and with the intention of staying closer to the market needs of the Indian sectors, has launched its third largest application development centre globally at Powai in Mumbai.
´The centre brings the customer close and Dow Cornings products cover a wide spectrum of industries including electronics, construction, textiles, household, automotives, etc,´ said Padmadas Nair, Head (AETS) – India. Talking to a select media, after taking them around the facility and explaining some of the development, Nair told the media that this Indian ADC is the third largest after the Belgium and Germany facilities.
Peter Cartwright, Regional Executive (E Europe, India, Middle East & Africa), said, ´Dow Cornings silicone developments have a major stake for the construction industry. And for automobiles and textiles too, there are many developments, which are more effective than the existing solutions. For instance, by combining fluoro and silicone technologies, it is possible to create high-value coatings with anti-staining, easy-clean, anti-graffiti properties.´
Fabrics coated with silicones are used to make everything from easy-care clothing to sails, parachutes, hot-air balloons and airbags.
