Plastic waste converted to fabric by Rajasthan’s startup
Aditya Banger, a 17-year-old boy from Rajasthan, is actively involved in reducing plastic waste. He is the founder of the start-up “Trash to Treasure†that turns plastic waste into the fabric.
Aditya Banger, a
17-year-old boy from Rajasthan who is actively involved in reducing plastic
waste, has set up “Trash to Treasure†company that turns plastic waste into the
fabric.
The boy is from the Bhilwara district and
comes from a family that runs a textile manufacturing business called Kanchan
India Limited. Aditya went on a trip to China with his uncle to bring new
fabric manufacturing techniques. There he came across a unit that was involved
in the conversion of waste into fabric by churning clothes and wearable. This
not only reduces waste that ends up in landfills but also helps in the
production of fine quality materials and creates employment in the local
region.
He was so fascinated with the idea and
started his own start-up with the support of his family. He also got seed
funding from Kanchan India Limited. He also collaborated with a foreign company
so that he can establish a manufacturing plant in Bhilwara. The company is
known to produce durable fabrics from PET-grade plastics and sells them so that
wearable and other products can be made. The company collects waste from
households, local sources, and cleanse it so that adulterations can be
removed. This waste is then melted and
chopped into fine plastic filament and is later mixed with cotton
so that the fibre can be produced.
