Washington State University (WSU) and ITC
Infotech, a leading global technology service in Bangalore, have collaborated
to launch apparels and retail technology industry-academia program. Under the
program, the university plans to use FlexPLM retail product lifecycle
management offered by PTC NASDAQ. WSU is a leading university with more than
200 programs related to apparel, design, merchandise, textiles, Biosciences,
and digital humanities.
It is expected
that ITC Infotech’s experience in the retail and apparel industry will be
beneficial for the students as they can use this unique learning experience
rooted in real-life simulations and strengthened through continuous innovation
and R&D. The importance of ‘Digital Thread’ can be understood better and
can be applied across the PLM cycle.
According to
Ting Chi, Professor, WSU, due to the pandemic, the need for product design and
development has been amplified. The course offered by the university is timed
well and will make the students ready for the industry. ITC Infotech has great
knowledge of Retail PLM which can be valuable for the students, he added. He
also said that the implementation of this program is just the start of the
journey. The university is looking to extend its relationship with ITC Infotech
and PTC to add more depth to the curriculum. Arun Raghavapudi, President, ITC
Infotech said that they are excited to technical expertise to the fashion and retail professional by collaborating
with WSU.
