Karl Mayer showcases breathable, stylish warp knits for modern homes
Warp knitted fabrics are emerging as versatile solutions for home textiles, offering innovative designs for mattresses, pillows, blankets, upholstery, curtains, and terry toweling. KARL MAYER highlights how warp knitting combines performance, aesthetics, and efficiency to create products that appeal to both manufacturers and consumers.
Among the latest innovations are silk-like blankets that offer the luxurious feel of high-end fabrics at mid-range prices. With a Q-max of 0.24 W/cm², these blankets dissipate heat quickly, keeping users cool during warm nights. The lightweight, breathable bedding is easy to wash, dries quickly, and resists creasing. Its warp knitted cover combines bright polyamide and elastane, giving the fabric a smooth, dense surface with a gentle sheen, while elastane ensures stretch and suppleness. Produced efficiently on the HKS 2-SE high-speed warp knitting machine, these blankets are designed for standard sizes while maintaining economical production.
Warp knitted corduroy is also making a comeback in home textiles. From classic stripes to turtle velvet patterns, corduroy designs are created through threading and underlaps, which are cut and brushed to add texture. The HKS 3-M machine allows flexible production of velour, blankets, terry toweling, and even automotive and sports textiles.
KARL MAYER’s new curtain collection demonstrates warp knitting’s versatility for window décor, featuring striped patterns of varying widths and densities. Produced on the upgraded TM WEFT machine, the series benefits from a 20% speed increase, offering faster and more efficient manufacturing.
