Supported by title sponsor Trident Group, one of India’s largest textile and diversified manufacturing conglomerates, the tournament highlights the organisation’s commitment to promoting sports and excellence.

The Trident Group and the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), the official sanctioning body of professional golf in the country, have announced the launch of the inaugural Trident Open Golf Tournament, to be held at the iconic Chandigarh Golf Club from November 11–14, 2025. The tournament carries a prize purse of Rs 10 million. The main event follows the Am-Am (November 8) and Pro-Am (November 9) competitions.

Supported by title sponsor Trident Group, one of India’s largest textile and diversified manufacturing conglomerates, the tournament highlights the organisation’s commitment to promoting sports and excellence. Led by Rajinder Gupta, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Chairman, Trident Group operates across textiles, paper (wheat straw–based), and chemicals, with major manufacturing facilities in Punjab and Madhya Pradesh.

The Trident Open will host a strong field of 126 players, including 123 professionals and three amateurs. Leading Indian golfers in the fray include current PGTI Ranking leader Yuvraj Sandhu, along with Arjun Prasad, Shaurya Bhattacharya, Angad Cheema, Om Prakash Chouhan and Manu Gandas. The Chandigarh Tricity contingent features Jairaj Singh Sandhu, Akshay Sharma, Ravi Kumar, Abhijit Singh Chadha, Brijesh Kumar, and several others including Umed Kumar, the PGTI NEXGEN Order of Merit champion.

International participation includes players from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the United States, Nepal, Italy and Uganda. Notably, 21-year-old Shubham Jaglan, former India No. 1 in the junior category and currently playing US college golf, will make his PGTI debut at the event.

The 72-hole stroke-play event will implement a cut after 36 holes, with the top 50 and ties advancing to the final two rounds.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajinder Gupta, Chairman, Trident Group, said, “We are delighted to launch the inaugural Trident Open in collaboration with PGTI under the esteemed leadership of Kapil Dev Ji. This initiative reflects Trident’s commitment to championing sports and fostering meaningful partnerships. Hosting this tournament at the historic Chandigarh Golf Club, the ‘Nursery of Indian Golf,’ is a true honour.”

Kapil Dev, President, PGTI, said, “We are proud to partner with the Trident Group to introduce the Trident Open, marking another milestone for professional golf in India. The Chandigarh Golf Club, with its rich legacy of producing champions, provides the perfect backdrop for this new tournament. We hope it becomes a cherished tradition.”

Ravibir Singh, President, Chandigarh Golf Club, added, “It is a privilege for the Chandigarh Golf Club to host the first edition of the Trident Open. Our long-standing association with PGTI has brought many prestigious events to the city, and we look forward to welcoming players and spectators to witness top-quality golf on our historic greens.”
