Taiwan Expo 2024 India marks a new era in textile industry

During the event, an MoU was signed by the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) and the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) outlining plans for seminars, exhibitions, and policy discussions aimed at supporting technological advancements and capacity-building.

Taiwan Expo 2024 India, hosted by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), concluded successfully, advancing the dialogue between Indian and Taiwanese textile and footwear industries. Held from July 8-10, 2024, at Hall 2, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, the event underscored the expanding trade and technological collaboration between the two nations.

The event’s highlight was the memorandum of understanding (MoU) opening ceremony, facilitated by Manoj Sharma, Joint Secretary, Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI). This marked a significant step in fortifying bilateral trade relations. Cynthia Kiang, Director General, Taiwan International Trade Administration (TITA), graced the ceremony with her presence and witnessed this ground-breaking collaboration. CITI is a leading organisation committed to advancing India’s textile industry through policy advocacy and industry support,

The ceremony served as a precursor to the official MoU signing, which took place between the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) and the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) at the Ministry. Rakesh Mehra, Chairman, CITI, and James Kuo, Chairman, TTF, signed the agreement focusing on enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, and technology within the textile industry. The MoU outlines plans for seminars, exhibitions, and policy discussions aimed at supporting technological advancements and capacity-building.

Additionally, the event featured a purchase signing ceremony, emphasising the deepening partnership in the footwear sector. Kiang also witnessed the signing betweenYang Yong-Yin, Sales Executive, Yessing Machinery Co Ltd, and Kapil Solanki, Executive, Trinath Industries Pvt Ltd.

Over the course of the three-day event, more than 60 industry buyers engaged with Taiwanese textile and footwear companies at the pavilion, exploring new partnership opportunities. Following the MoU signing ceremony, CITI members toured seven Taiwanese textile booths, showcasing the latest dyeing solutions for smarter and greener textile manufacturing. Exhibitors included Everlight Chemical Industrial Corporation, Logic Art Automation Co Ltd, Hsing Cheng Machinery Industrial Co Ltd, JINTEX Corporation Ltd, Tong Geng Enterprise Co Ltd, and Tung Yang Machine Industry Co Ltd.

Buyers also visited seven TTF exhibiting companies, including Far Eastern New Century Corporation, Little King Global Co Ltd, Metal Max Textile Co Ltd, Wynist Retail Solutions Inc, Hsing Yong Ho Enterprise Co Ltd, Bentex Essential Sustainable Textiles Co Ltd, and NunoX Technologies Co Ltd. On the second day, esteemed members from TAI – The Textile Association (India), representing the interests of textile professionals across the country, engaged in the textile buyer’s guided tour.

In the footwear segment, the pavilion hosted expert buyers from Indian Footwear Components Manufacturers Association (IFCOMA)—an association representing the interests of the footwear components sector in India; Confederation of Indian Footwear Industries (CIFI)—a key body for footwear manufacturers in India; and Agra Footwear Manufacturers & Exports Chamber (AFMEC)—a key organisation promoting the footwear industry in Agra. These buyers interacted with footwear exhibitors such as Yessing Machinery Co Ltd, Chuan Chyi Machine Co Ltd, Tien Kang Co Ltd, Great Eastern Resins Industrial Co Ltd, and Horng Chii Machine Industry Co Ltd.
