Dhiraj Raichand Shah, Executive Chairman of Shahlon Silk Industries Ltd, Surat, has taken over as Chairman of The Synthetic & Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC) at the recently held meeting of the Committee of Administration of the Council.

In September 2020, Textile Secretary Ravi Capoor informed investors that the Government of India was planning to bring a “focussed product scheme” to incentivise production of synthetic fibre-based apparel and technical textiles.

The SRTEPC has played a transforming role over the years in promoting exports of Indian Man-made fibre textiles. Exports of these items which were negligible in the 1960s, have grown substantially to touch Rs. 34,518 crores (US$5.75 billion) during 2013-14.
