Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in his maiden visit to United States as the Prime Minister of India touted his government´s ambitious plan of ´Make in India´. ´Make in India´ will support and grow the textile industry and world trade between India and other countries. Good governance and low cost of manufacturing are the keys to attract investments in India, said Modi.

After the economic slowdown of 2008-09 in which the global textile industry lost much of its steam, there came a whiff of fresh air in the industry last year. But again the uncertainty persisted for some time till the new Government at the Centre gave some hopes a few months back.

With the AGM of the Synthetic and Rayon Textile Export Promotion Council getting over all the required formalities and agenda at the Ambassador Hotel in Mumbai recently, the rest of the time was devoted to the most urgent of matters – the ongoing Anti Dumping Duties (ADD)
