With an aim to make Haryana a hub of textile manufacturing, the state government on Tuesday approved Textile Policy 2018 to incentivise setting up of new units, and ensure growth and modernisation of the existing textile industry in the State.

The Narendra Modi Government at the Centre is now increasingly looking to promote khadi as an international brand with a special focus on Indian diaspora.

Arvind Ltd plans to buy around one million metres of khadi denim every year from the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).

Raymond Ltd, textile and apparel major, will launch Khadi by Raymond on October 2, 2017. Raymond was first to forge the first partnership with the Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) and will promote the fabric in India and global markets.

What can be called as a formal ushering of the textile Khadi into corporatisation, Raymond has launched India’s first branded khadi label- ‘Khadi by Raymond’.

The Maharashtra State Khadi and Village Industries (MSKVI) board has drafted a detailed plan to revive home-based and village industries in the State.

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is planning to set up 7 to 8 khadi centres in Meghalaya this year, said the organisation’s Chairman Vinay Kumar Saxena.
