Raymond Textiles is targeting a 7-8 per cent growth in its suitings business next fiscal. Apart from suitings, the other segments under the textiles division include shirtings (fabrics for making shirts), made-to-measure garments and exports. The growth will come organically, including new product ranges. Over the last one year, the company explored new offerings focusing on functionality.

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has raised India’s cotton export forecast in April 2016 on account of increased demand form Pakistan. India’s exports are boosted 250,000 bales to 5.8 million on strong demand, especially from Pakistan, USDA said in its latest report. “Strong textile exports, especially of apparel and bed wear, have forced Pakistan’s textile sector to look to imported cotton, especially from India, to make up for a significantly smaller crop,†according to the report.

Denim fabric maker Nandan Denim expects to increase its production capacity to 110 million metres per annum by the next quarter. Nandan Denim Ltd (NDL) has a denim production capacity of 71 million metres per annum, at present. “We are expanding our capacity further to reach 110 million metres by Q1 of FY17 to become the country’s largest denim producer,†Nandam Denim President Govind Sharda said.
