SDC Enterprises acquires Sam Weller & Sons

SDC Enterprises Limited has announced the acquisition of the specialist weavers Sam Weller & Sons Limited. Based in Holmfirth Sam Weller is one of the leading decatising wrapper manufacturers in the world, having almost a century of experience working with the cloth finishing industry. The company also manufactures a wide range of specialist technical and industrial fabrics, predominately in cellulosic and man-made fibres.

SDC Enterprises has been working in partnership with Sam Weller, over many years, to ensure that high quality manufacture of SDCE’ world leading test fabrics is retained in the UK. The acquisition of SW will allow SDCE to secure the manufacture of its full-width fabrics, alongside the narrow weaving SDCE already operates, and add its extensive testing and quality control knowledge to SW’s diverse product portfolio.

The acquisition provides SW with a succession plan for the retiring directors, one of whom, Anthony Weller will join the Board of SDCE as a Non-executive Director. Sixteen jobs at the Holmfirth will be safeguarded by the deal.
