Uster Technologies regrets to announce the passing away of Richard Furter, a well-known and highly respected member of the global textile community.

Richard Furter served Uster Technologies for a total of 46 years. In 1973, he took up the role of development engineer in the field of laboratory instruments. Here he won widespread respect, pioneering a number of innovations, as well as publishing several books and articles on quality control in textiles. In the 1980s, he gained promotion to executive positions in the research and development department.

During his time with Uster Technologies, Richard Furter helped to advance various aspects of the company, including marketing and sales, to leading positions. In 1999, he was entrusted with overall responsibility for the textile technology department. In this role, his extensive knowledge and expertise enabled him to provide indispensable support in USTER product applications, as well as initiating further developments and innovations. His work amounted to a substantial contribution to the success of the company.

Richard Furter was a valued and respected colleague to everyone in USTER, and a great friend to many in the small textile world. Everyone who knew him found him to be a person with inherent kindness, a person that could be trusted, a man with class. He will be missed.

Richard Furter was in his 71st year when a serious illness ended his life much too early. He died peacefully on the night of March 1, at his home in Zug (Switzerland).
