Puducherry

According to N Rangasamy, Chief Minister,
Puducherry, it is important the Anglo-French Textile (AFT) mills that are owned
by the territorial government would be restarted as soon as possible under the
PPP mode.

The minister took a round at the defunct mill along with officials and assessed
its present condition. The mill has been taken over by the Union Territory
Administration in 1985 from the private sector.
Rangasamy informed that the government is now thinking of sending a
proposal wherein the mill will be revived through public-private partnership
(PPP) mode. He also said under the smart city project, that the government is
also going to install cameras at different points in and around the town along
with setting up a control room on the premises of the AFT Mills.

The CM is also going to visit the capital
city to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discuss various developmental
proposals relating to Puducherry with him. As a matter of fact, AFT Mills was
started in the private sector during the regime of the French people. The
territorial government took it over when it faced a crisis.
