In this interview, Harish Mehta of Menzel Engineering India elaborates on how Menzel helps textile makers reduce cost through water and power saving with its continuous wet processing machineries

Menzel Engineering India Pvt Ltd (MEI) – promoted by Peter Menzel, Constantin Menzel, Harish Mehta and Dhaval Gandhi – manufactures continuous wet processing machinery with German technology. The basis of bringing in German technology through this joint venture was the need of continuous wet processing machineries and solutions to improve quality, delivery and reduce the cost of production, a gap successfully filled by MEI. The company enabled considerable cost reduction through water and power saving, compared to the batch process, which is discontinuous by its definition.

The major challenge was to offer modern technology at reasonable cost and modular design, helping the industry to upgrade and achieve higher production speed as may be required, but adding suitable modules. The user friendly approach by MEI team has resulted in our customers repeatedly buying these machineries at regular intervals from Menzel Engineering, having helped MEI successfully commissioned over 315 different types of ranges, over the entire gamut of wet processing machineries, over the past decade and half.

Today, MEI has a team of 30 engineers, providing erection & after sales services to its esteemed customers, with three separate bases, viz. Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. In this interview, Harish Mehta of Menzel Engineering India elaborates on how Menzel helps textile makers reduce cost through water and power saving with its continuous wet processing machineries..

You just mentioned about the robust solutions you offer, can you kindly take us through it in a little more detail?

The basis of bringing in German technology through our joint venture was the need of continuous processing machineries and solutions to improve quality and delivery. The major challenge was to offer modern technology at reasonable cost and modular design helping the industry to upgrade and achieve higher production speeds as may be required by adding suitable modules. This user friendly, cost-efficient approach by Menzel has resulted in our customers repeatedly buying these machineries at regular intervals from us over the last 16 years. Which has now resulted in having arguably the best repeat value the industry has witnessed over the decades. Currently, with an on field team of over 30 engineers who provide erection and after sales services, from our three separate bases located in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.

What is your opinion on the present status of textiles & apparels (T&A) industry?

Textile is a key sector for taking India towards Atmanirbharta as there is a great potential to grow with the ever increasing demand. When faced with the bottlenecks, an organisation, like Menzel, is well placed to iron out these issues with its suitable, sustainable, innovative and upgraded products and solutions. The market for knitted garments is seeing a huge rise with more and more process houses expanding in the same. Menzel, as one of the key players in India, is equally positive and expanding business in knit machineries. It is a widely untapped market and with the continuous ranges that we offer, it will only ensure they gain the same benefits as the conventional process houses in the country.

Yes, there are challenges. But, at Menzel, we believe each challenge brings with it an equal opportunity to learn and grow. With our powerful ideas, diversity and adaptability, we provide solutions that help ease out the issues and problems faced by our customers.

What will be the highlight of Menzel at India ITME 2022? We introduced a couple of ranges between the last ITME (held in 2016) and 2022, which have now primed for their official launch. With these solutions and products running successfully in India, we will be introducing them to the industry at India ITME. H-Control Continuous Dyeing and fixing of reactive colours and pulsation washer will be displayed at the exhibition. As we get closer to ITME, you will hear a lot more about these.
