According to a NASDAQ Report, cotton for December delivery rose 2.1 per cent to end at 75.83 cents a pound on the ICE Futures U.S. exchange, the highest since June 24, 2014. Cotton has been a star performer this year among commodities.

Valsad-based Atul Limited has become the first dyestuff company globally to develop one-of-its-kind mobile application to access the technical information of a specific product on a real-time basis. Named ‘Atul oCloud’, the application, which is compatible with both Android and iOS platforms, was inaugurated recently by Dr GVG Rao, President – Colors Division, Atul Ltd.

The NIFT-TEA Knitwear Fashion Institute is collaborating with Synthetic and Arts Silk Mills Research (SASMIRA) to develop a machine for dyeing cotton fabrics without the use of water. The proposed machine will be similar to the one developed by SASMIRA for dyeing polyester fabrics, which uses liquefied carbon dioxide instead of water.

Greaves Cotton Ltd has posted a 5 per cent growth in its revenue at Rs 445 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2016 as against Rs 424 crore for the corresponding period last year. Despite tough market conditions, the company maintained its net profit at Rs 39 crore for the first quarter, 11 per cent decline from Rs 44 crore in the comparable period last year.
