Mafatlal Industries bags Rs 1.14 Bn Odisha robotics labs project

Order from OCAC to establish 500 labs across 16 districts.

Mafatlal Industries has secured an order worth approximately Rs 1.14 billion from Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC), marking a significant diversification into technology-enabled education infrastructure. The project will be executed over a five-year period.

OCAC, the technical directorate under the Electronics & Information Technology Department of the Government of Odisha, plays a key role in advancing IT solutions, training and e-governance initiatives in the state.

Under the mandate, Mafatlal Industries will establish 500 robotics laboratories across 16 districts under Odisha’s School and Mass Education Department. The scope of work includes setting up state-of-the-art facilities as well as delivering training programmes to ensure effective adoption and strong educational outcomes.

The initiative is designed to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education among school students through hands-on, experiential learning in robotics. By integrating practical training with classroom education, the project aims to build foundational technical skills at an early stage.

The collaboration is being positioned as one of India’s largest school-level robotics education initiatives. It also reflects Mafatlal Industries’ strategic push to expand beyond its traditional textile business into digital infrastructure and education services.

With this project, the company strengthens its role in enabling future-ready learning ecosystems, aligned with India’s broader goal of fostering a digitally skilled and innovation-driven workforce.
