The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organising a National Conference on Innovative & Water Efficient Processes in the Textile Sector Promoting Sustainability & Competitiveness on May 18, 2017 at New Delhi. The Conference is being organised with a view to create awareness to deal with challenges with regard to the new regulations of CGWA, NGT Guidelines and to learn about increasingly advanced treatment technologies, innovative strategies geared towards water and wastewater reuse and resource recovery.
As you are aware, water is used extensively throughout the textile processing operations and it is imperative that the sector takes cognizance of the notification from Central Ground Water Authority and the National Green tribunal which has issued directions to ensure that all existing, new and expansion industries/projects extracting ground water should obtain permission from Central Ground Water Authority. The impact of textile industry on climate cannot be disregarded, therefore, there is an urgent need for making efforts towards reducing the use of fresh water in various processes and making use of technologies that treat and reuse process water as well as treated wastewater.
The Conference would witness the presence of prominent industry, stakeholders from the textile industry, relevant authorities from the Central and State Pollution Control Boards and other important stakeholders from the Government to deliberate upon the challenges being faced by the sector and showcase national and International best practices from progressive and futuristic companies.
Dilip Gaur, MD of Grasim Industries Ltd (Aditya Birla Group), is the Chairman of this important Conference.
