BT Gandhi reelected FIASWI Chairman

At the FIASWI’s Annual General Meeting held held in Surat recently, Bharat T Gandhi was re-elected Chairman of FIASWI for 2017-18. The AGM was attended by about 120 delegates from all over India – Mumbai, Bhiwandi, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Bangalore. Maganlal H Doshi was re-elected as President of FIASWI for the year 2017-18.
Besides, the Life Time Achievement Award – Citation – was given to Maganlal H Doshi for his valuable service to the powerloom Industry for the last 70 years. Maganlal Harilal Doshi is one of the founders of FIASWI. The first All India Art Silk Weavers Convention was held at Amritsar on 18th February, 1974.

Doshi was the Chairman of this Convention and the organisation was then called All India Co-ordination Committee of Art Silk Fabric Manufacturers Association (AICC) and later, it was changed to Federation of Indian Art Silk Weaving Industry (FIASWI).  He was Chairman of FIASWI in 1980 and during its early days he welded the Industry into a united force.
