Along with its income from registration fees, the Dornbirn Man-made Fibers Congress relies largely on the support of such sponsors as industry, universities and colleges, and the technical press.

Long-standing sponsors such as the Province of Vorarlberg, Dornbirn City, Lenzing AG, CIRFS and IVC (Industrievereinigung Chemiefasern Deutschland) have for many years been actively supporting the Dornbirn-MFC, and the contributions of international specialised media have been growing steadily.

The new Congress Management headed by DI Friedrich Weninger has recently succeeded in recruiting additional sponsors: the Kunstuniversität Linz (University of Fine Arts and Industrial Design), the Plastics Cluster of the Lower Austrian Economic Agency, and the German Hahl/Pedex Group and Märkische Faser GmbH, who will lend their support for the first time this year. In the next few years additional sponsors will be solicited at home and abroad to ensure the Dornbirn-MFC’s continued success.

Dornbirn: The "smartest" townDornbirn is Austria’s smartest town, according to a nation-wide poll taken by INDUSTRIEMAGAZIN. It ranks first in as many as five categories out of a total of eight: quality of life, enterprise-friendliness, innovative strength, traffic and transport planning, and energy efficiency. This is already the second award that suggests that living in Dornbirn is life at its best – only last year an empirical study named Dornbirn as Austria’s most live able district.

Another step forward towards a green eventWe endeavour to organise the Dornbirn-MFC in accordance with the standards fixed for the Austrian environmental label "Green Meetings & Green Events". For the first time, our catering will also meet this environmental standard. Our catering partner Feuerstein, of Schwarzenberg, will regale Congress participants with products originating within a radius of less than 150 km – a perfect marriage of culinary excellence and sustainability.

Papers by top-ranking international experts representative of academic research and industry make the Congress a unique event.

Along with excellent plenary lectures and specialised papers, this year’s meeting will also feature a panel discussion with representatives of internationally renowned brands.

Like many others, the Lenzing Group makes use of the Congress as a communication platform and "innovation engine". With its closest partners in downstream textile processing stages, Lenzing will benefit from the findings and most up-to-date insights in the field of cellulose fiber technology.

Main topics of the 54th Dornbirn MFC

This year, some 100 expert papers will be presented, covering the following areas: fibre and filament innovations, (bio-) polymers, functionalisation and adaptation of fibres and surfaces, nonwovens/filtration, environment and health, and advanced fibre and processing technology.

Current Congress Programme provides overview of papers to be presented. Details concerning the more than 100 expert papers will be found in the current congress programme, which can be downloaded from our Homepage at www.dornbirn-mfc.com.

First registrations for Dornbirn-MFC encouragingAs always in recent years many participants availed themselves of the early bird bonus and registered before the end of May.

The registrations received so far make us feel confident that the Congress’s role as a generator of ideas and networking can be further enhanced in years to come and will attract participants from fields as yet untapped. Register as a participant

Make good use of this communication platform with roughly 800 participants from more than 30 countries and learn more about the most recent innovations made in the world-wide fiber community.
