With the help of
its 4D-KNIT, KARL MAYER has been able to redefine the concept of warp-knitted
spacer fabrics. This term depicts a completely new generation of spacer
textiles. These spacer textiles are based on the construction of conventional
3D warp knitted fabrics but are different from traditional designs. The spacer
layer is different, and the space between the lower and upper is filled with
bulked yarns. This is done to achieve unprecedented effects in design and
performance. The two surfaces can also have relief designs, with individual
dimensions and placements along with two-tone colouring and breathable mesh
zones. A wide variety of pieces is possible, depending upon the filling and the
design of the plastic motifs. The customers can choose from cozy padded jackets
to breathable textiles. These new warp-knitted spacer fabrics are produced on
an RDPJ 6/2 EL FB. The product developers by Karl Mayer have produced the first
4D-KNIT products on a jacquard double needle bar machine in E28.

It is seen that Material processed in a gauge of E 28 is used in the
production of sportswear items. This fabric that is being skilfully threaded in
on the machine is light-weight and soft to touch. Also, the design is chic and
functional. The RDPJ 6/2 EL FB, with the help of its two jacquard bars, makes
the front side and the back side of the top seem like a single piece. It also
has a 3-dimensional and functional bulky form. This includes every
sophisticated design detail as well. These design details allow contours to
mark the cut edges. The machines are well-equipped with flat bars for
segmentation and under-padded relief patterns with small-format geometric
motifs. There are open mesh parts as well. Any kind of unpleasant stickiness
caused by sweat can be minimized by the small repeat of high-low effects. It
also reduces the fabric’s contact area on the skin. The breathable mesh areas
with sufficiently large openings and built-in elastic zones are ensured by
sport and leisure fabrics as they offer freedom of movement.

According to Yuji Yamamoto, Regional Product Owner for double needle
bar raschel machines, KARL MAYER, the apparel sector can be highly
benefitted from these new 4D-KNIT fabrics. He wants fashion and sportswear
manufacturers to use the new series. He also said that a high level of wear
comfort is offered by the soft and low weight fabric. According to him the yarn
material in the spacing also offers good insulating properties as there is a
very low discharge of microplastic particles as the company doesn’t use raising
or brushing processes.
