Demand for coated fabrics in the US is forecast to increase 2.1 per cent per year to 650 million square yards in 2020. Coated fabric usage is highly dependent on two factors: the production of end products and the level of competition from alternative materials, such as leather, plastic and rubber sheeting, and uncoated fabrics. Zero effluent discharge (ZED): It is a drive that has been happening only in fits and starts in India. When the present Indian government initiated a draft regulation only a few months ago, which will make ZLD (zero liquid discharge) mandatory for textile units having waste water discharge of more than 25 KLD (kiloliters per day), the pollution issue surfaced again.
