ITMA ASIA + CITME 2016, the fifth edition of the combined textile machinery show, is expected to attract a trade visitorship of around 1,00,000 from around the world. ITMA ASIA + CITME 2016 will be held from October 21-25, 2016 at the new National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC) in Shanghai. The show opening hours are from 9 am to 6 pm daily. With less than two months to go before the show opens, interest from the global textile and garment industry is extremely strong. To-date, it has attracted around 1,600 exhibitors from 27 economies. Visitor promotion is well underway.

Rieter’s order intake increased by 32 per cent to CHF 510.7 million in the first half of 2016 (CHF 388.3 million in the first half of 2015), thanks in particular to stronger demand in the machinery business. As expected, order intake was thus significantly higher than sales of CHF 436.9 million (CHF 553.9 million in the first half of 2015). Rieter achieved EBITDA of CHF 34.4 million or 7.9 per cent of sales (CHF 66.0 million or 11.9 per cent of sales in the first half of 2015) due to good results of the Components and After Sales business groups. EBIT amounted to CHF 15.7 million while the EBIT margin was 3.6 per cent (CHF 46.1 million and 8.3 per cent respectively in the first half of 2015).

The Gujarat government is planning to set up India’s first textile university at Surat, Gujarat with an investment of about Rs 800-900 crore. Construction for the university will start early next year and the university is expected to be operational within the next one-and-a-half years. The aim of the university is to provide all kind of support including technology, R&D, skilled manpower, etc. The university will create a complete eco system for the textile industry in Gujarat and India. It will guide the Government in policy making for the industry.
