Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir

The Department
of Handicrafts and Handloom in Kashmir held a meeting recently to discuss and
chalk a roadmap for setting up an ecommerce platform and promoting the authentic
and genuine products of Kashmiri artisans on social media.

The Department will
shortlist a social media agency to manage the marketing and publicity of the
handicrafts and handlooms. The agency will also set up an ecommerce platform
for the products.

A discussion
about the GI for Kani Shawl and Paper Machie was also held with representatives
of Tahafuz Society and Pashmina Testing & Quality Certification Centre
(PTQCC). While the Kani technique has achieved a GI tag, clarity on the textile
should be finalised.
