ITTA to take up EPC role for tech textiles

The technical textile industry in India is seriously getting down to business; first, the membership of the Indian Technical Textile Association (ITTA) has gone up by 48 to over 240, and there are signs of more coming in in the days to come. This was disclosed by none other than the Executive Director of ITTA, Shashi Singh, who with her association office-bearers is spearheading a new revolution in technical textiles in India. The 4th AGM of the ITTA was a happy departure from the usual AGMs, with the inclusion of a ‘Knowledge Sharing Session’, in which experts made presentation on topics subjects of interest to the technical textile manufacturers.

Said Shashi Singh: "There are over 750 serious players in technical textiles in India, and I want their active participation to give a boost to this industry. We are doing our best to put technical textiles at the forefront. Apart from working on so may fronts to enhance technical textiles role in textile industry, we are also making efforts to add the role of an export promotion council to ITTA.´

ITTA has been playing a sterling role in the promotion of technical textiles in India. ITTA is the only Association of the technical textile industry in the country with 241 members as on date. ITTA is registered under section 25 of the companies act (1956) in the year 2010 and the formation of the ITTA was facilitated by the Office of the Textile Commissioner, Mumbai. ITTA membership represents the entire technical textile value chain from raw material to finished goods producers, machinery manufacturers, consultants, centers of excellence and R&D institutes.

Apart from Shashi Singh, the office-bearers of ITTA include the following: Pramod Khosla, Chairman; SundaraRaman KS, Vice Chairman; Amit Agarwal, Hon Secretary, and; Chandrakant M Khetan, Joint Secretary. Khosla is the CMD of Khosla Profil Pvt Ltd. SundaraRaman is the Executive Director of Coimbatore-based Shiva Texyarn Ltd. C M Khetan is the Mumbai-based CMD of Entremonde Polycoaters Ltd. Amit Agarwal is a Director of the Ahmedabad-based CTM Geosynthetics.
