ITTA and Indian Navy to organise 1st seminar-cum-exhibition
Indian defence sector is one of the largest consumers of technical textile products in the country, who in addition to a range of conventional technical textile products are consuming specialised functional textiles many of which are imported.
Seminar-cum-exhibition is to create awareness to the delegates on the requirements of Indian Navy for clothing and footwear.
Indian defence sector is one of the largest consumers of technical textile products in the country, who in addition to a range of conventional technical textile products are consuming specialised functional textiles many of which are imported. The Indian Technical Textile Association (ITTA) jointly with Indian Navy is organising first seminar-cum-exhibition on clothing and footwear, where various users from the Indian Navy would interact with the textile industry as a whole and ITTA members on technical textiles in particular. Indian Navy will present their requirements of clothing and footwear, procurement procedures, etc. while indigenous manufacturers will get opportunities to showcase products and capabilities to create a new era of manufacturing and sourcing of these products from India.
Key clothing and footwear products used by the Indian Navy are: shorts, t-shirts for divers and cotton socks; saree ? cotton and P/C light blue; knitted khaki shirt and trouser, shorts and t-shirts in navy blue; woollen innerwear vest white; cloth ? poplin, pugree, P/V and P/C plain; mosquito net; coat parka, overcoat black, jackets and jersey; shirt toweling; mess jackets and bow tie for cadets; flame retardants; operating mask and gown; disposable shirt; pillow and hollow polyester fibres; gloves for drivers, etc.
ITTA is the only association of the technical textile industry in the country. Formation of ITTA was facilitated by Office of the Textile Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. ITTA membership represents the entire technical textile value chain from raw material to finished goods producers, machinery manufacturers, converters, centers of excellence and RandD institutes. At present ITTA has over 275 members. The objective of the ITTA is to promote, support, develop and increase production and export of technical textile to make India a power house of technical textiles in the days to come.
In the short span of over five years of its existence, ITTA has undertaken a number of activities like organising seminars, exhibition both domestic and overseas, supporting government schemes, organising workshops, taking up the issues of technical textile units with the government agencies. ITTA is also a member of various committees constituted by Ministry of Textiles and office of the Textile Commissioner and provides inputs for policy formulations and other issues for the growth of the industry.
Seminar-cum-exhibition is to create awareness to the delegates on the requirements of Indian Navy for clothing and footwear, their innovation for product up-gradation and also delegates and exhibitors will get opportunities to showcase their products and capabilities to create a new era of manufacturing and sourcing of these products. The delegates from both Indian Navy and the textile industry will be benefited from the seminar and exhibition. This will enhance their knowledge base and initiate the process of product development on clothing and footwear, which would eventually lead to emergence of opportunities for increased use of different products for the Indian Navy.
