ICT hosts national textile contest on sustainable innovation

Highlighting the growing importance of sustainability in textiles, ICT’s Department of Fibres and Textile Processing Technology hosted its national-level intercollegiate technical competition “Style with Sense, Sustainability in Essence” on April 4, 2026.

The Department of Fibres and Textile Processing Technology, Institute of Chemical Technology, held its annual national-level technical intercollegiate competition “Style with Sense, Sustainability in Essence” on Saturday 4th April 2026. Where the students from all over the country enthusiastically participated and showcased their talent in events like

  • Kalakart – where artistic skills as well as the technical know-how are put to the test, to bring out the best designs! This fosters creativity in creating colourful fabric designs inspired by the event theme.
  • Texpermation – presentation based on the participants’ understanding of problem statements and sharing ideas that benefit all! where students learned about various practical, industrially scalable ideas.
  • Texfued – rendition of the famous Family Feud, where all the participants are tested on their wits and knowledge of Textiles and Fashion.

A 6-member jury from different industrial organisations fairly judged the competition and selected winners purely on merit. Dr Vaishali Rane, DyeStar India, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event was financially supported by Amtex Dye-Chem, CHT India and Sarex Chemicals. The merchandising sponsors were Somved Enterprises and Vinipul Inorganics.

Dr Vijay Habbu, Distinguished Alumnus of ICT, inaugurated the annual TexPression cultural event, where UG, PG & PhD students of ICT-Textiles showcased cultural performances. The students received Awards for their excellence in academics, publications, and special achievements for the year 2025-26 Sponsored by Dr Nimkar Foundation, Pulcra Chemicals and Prof. Teli Endowment. Jayant Khera (VP, DyStar) sponsored the “Best Teacher Award” in his parents’ name.
