In an interaction with the ITJ team, Ashok Malhotra, Managing Director, Habasit-Iakoka Pvt Ltd, speaks on how Habasit has been faring in the Indian market, and the future plans of the company.
What do you think is the status of our textile machinery, parts & accessories industry a SWOT analysis from your side.
The textile industry is currently passing through a difficult phase due to off-take of yarn to China, low realisation of yarn price, power cost, skilled labour availability, etc. Customers are holding back purchases barring few large textile organisations. We as an organisation are doing reasonably okay business. Thanks to our loyal customers who repose faith in have on Habasit brand delivering product quality and excellent services. This is a cyclical phase and I am sure the industry would bounce back in 2016.
What are your company´s contribution (by way of technology & products) to the textile industry? And what are the plans for the future?
Habasit pioneered to introduce energy saving spindle tape W-8.We found great success in many ring spinning mills and is being approved by leading ring spinning machinery manufacturers like Rieter, Lakshmi Machine Works, et al.
Habasit is also the pioneer in introducing the polyester belts (TC series) known for lower energy consumption. Habasit strongly believes in continuous R&D and invests heavily to be the technology leader in this space. How has your company been faring in the export markets for your machinery?
Habasit India exports spindle tape manufactured in Coimbatore globally through its affiliate companies. South Asia market is managed from Habasit India
What is your wish-list for the textile machinery industry and also the Government to make the industry a leader internationally?
Textile continues to be the major employment generation activities. A our honourable Prime Minister is already focussed in skill building exercise, we would expect the Government to provide extra incentives to boost the sagging textile industry and this goes in line with our PM´s broader vision of employment skill build-up and employment generation activities
What are your expectations at the ITMA 2015 in Milan?
Habasit would participate and would also showcase some innovative solutions in the ITMA. We would definitely benefit in projecting Habasit´s pioneering image in the belting industry at the fair. This is the most important global fair in the textile world and we would have great opportunity to meet our global customers and to work together with them to be partners in their belting needs.
