GoCoop, India´s 1st online social marketplace for weavers & artisans has launched the ´#ILoveHandlooms´ campaign to popularise handloom among the masses and to pledge support for artisans and weavers. Through the campaign, GoCoop invites people to share their love for handloom by posting a photo or writing a story about a favourite handloom product they own.

According to Siva Devireddy, Managing Director, GoCoop: ´Many of us love handlooms & each one of us has our own reasons. Handlooms symbolise the rich cultural heritage and tradition of India. They are not only eco-friendly but also make a fashion statement. Our reason for loving Handlooms may be unique and very special and that´s why we want people to share their love for handlooms with everyone Through the ´ #ILoveHandlooms campaign, we want to encourage people to tell us their ´I Love Handlooms´ story.

It could be about a favourite handloom product they own, the design or any memory associated with it. Our main aim is to popularise handloom among the masses and to bring out the uniqueness of handloom products.´

GoCoop launched the ´New Swadeshi Movement´initiative last year on August 15, 2014 to reinstate pride in handcrafted products and to reintroduce the younger generations to handlooms. The overwhelming response from designers, consumers & industry to the ´New Swadeshi Movement´ campaign has encouraged us to launch the #ILoveHandlooms campaign this year´ said Devireddy. The very recent ´National Handloom Day´ announcement and the #MakeInIndia campaign by the government of India has given a major boost for the handloom sector. Similarly, the #ILoveHandlooms campaign by GoCoop is aimed at encouraging handloom lovers to take pride for their love for handlooms so that more people start appreciating and recognising the extraordinary skills and craftsmanship of artisans and weavers.
